Vietnam, Indonesia target 10 billion USD in bilateral trade by 2018

(VOVWORLD) -President Tran Dai Quang has called for greater efforts to bring trade value between Vietnam and Indonesia to 10 billion USD by 2018.

Mr. Quang made the remarks at a reception for Indonesia’s Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita in Hanoi on Sunday. The President urged Indonesia not to sink Vietnam’s fishing vessels being seized by Indonesia, adding that this issue should be settled on a humanitarian basis in accordance with the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Minister Lukita said that Indonesia attaches great importance to relations with Vietnam, particularly in trade and economics. He pledged to solve the issue of Vietnamese fishing vessels on a humanitarian basis and reiterated Indonesia’s support for and coordination with Vietnam during the 2017 APEC Year.

The same day, President Tran Dai Quang received Canada’s International Trade Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne. President Quang said Vietnam is accelerating international integration and has become a bridge linking partners including Canada with the ASEAN market.
