Vietnam, Italy intensify cooperation in corruption prevention

(VOVworld) - Vietnamese and Italian inspection officials have reviewed a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) on anti-corruption cooperation to sign it by next year at a recent meeting in Rome.

Chief Government Inspector Huynh Phong Tranh, head of the Vietnamese Government Inspectorate delegation, briefed the Italian counterpart on Vietnam’s socio-economic situation and its Party and State’s policies on inspection, administrative complaint settlement and corruption prevention.

Tranh also answered queries raised by officials from Italy’s National Anti-Corruption Authority on the functions and tasks of Vietnam’s Government Inspectorate on the current corruption prevention.

Parisi Nicoletta, Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Authority, said that the two agencies discussed in details the draft MoU focusing on the increase of exchange of delegations, experience, and personnel training.

Leaders of both sides agreed on stepping up the signing of the MoU with Italy by 2016.
