Vietnam, Japan discuss stronger defense ties

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Japan’s mutual trust and understanding have been strengthened, contributing to both countries’ peace and stability.

The statement was made at a talk between Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lt. General Phan Van Giang and Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano, Chief of Staff of the Japan Self-Defence Forces on Monday.

The two sides agreed on the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation to contribute to peace and stability in their respective countries and in the region.

During a 4-day official visit to Japan, Mr. Giang paid a courtesy call to Japanese Defence Minister Takeshi Iwaya, visited Kisarazu air field of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and met Vietnamese embassy staff in Japan.
