Vietnam, Japan sign investment agreements worth 22 billion USD

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe have witnessed the hand-over of contracts, investment licences, and agreements worth 22 billion USD among ministries, agencies, localities, and businesses of both countries.

The hand-over was part of the biggest-ever conference on investment promotion in Vietnam held in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday.

The Hanoi People’s Committee, the BRG Group, and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation signed a cooperation agreement on developing a Nhat Tan-Noi Bai urban project with total investment of more than 4 billion USD, aiming to build the most modern smart city of Southeast Asia on the northern outskirts of Hanoi along Vo Nguyen Giap Road.

The same day, the Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) and Japan’s NYK Line signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a joint study on developing transportation and logistics activities to serve plants and industrial parks in the Mekong Delta region.

Vietjet Air and the Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance Company Limited (MUL) signed an agreement to finance Vietjet Air’s acquisition of three brand new A321 aircraft, worth a total of 348 million USD.

International Medical Development JSC of Vietnam’s TH Group and Japan’s International Total Engineering Corporation (ITEC) signed a deal to build a high-tech health care complex in Hanoi.
