Vietnam, Laos sign 6 cooperative agreements

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith on Sunday praised the success of the 41st session of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Government Committee.

Speaking at a press conference held after the meeting, the two Prime Ministers hailed the outcomes of 12 cooperative agreements in 2018 and sign 6 new agreements on bilateral cooperation in 2019. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said: “The two governments will continue to create the best conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to expand their operation in Laos and Vietnam. The two countries agreed to work closely and support each other at international forums. Laos supports Vietnam’s bid to become a Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure. We believe that the success of the meeting will create momentum to boost bilateral cooperation in a more practical manner and strengthen the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.”

Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith thanked the Vietnamese government and people for their support: “With the strengthened political cooperation, mutual trust, comradeship and close ties between the two Parties, States, and people, our economic cooperation has been deepened. Vietnam’s investment in Laos has increased, reaching 4 billion USD in 2018, ranking third among countries investing in Laos. Our social and cultural cooperation has been enhanced making younger generations and peoples of the two countries understand better our special ties. We have signed 6 cooperative agreements which showed the strengthened bilateral cooperation and laid foundation for better ties in the coming years.”
