Vietnam, Laos to develop joint power projects

(VOVworld) - Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and his Lao counterpart Sonsay Siphandone pledged to give the highest priority to fostering traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos during their talks in Vientiane on Wednesday.

The two sides vowed to continue realizing high-level agreements and facilitating high-level visits and exchanges, as well as the sharing of experience in socio-economic development in each country. The two leaders discussed measures to remove difficulties for Vietnamese business investment projects in Laos to improve investment efficiency and help to successfully implement the cooperative agreements signed between the two governments in 2016. Vietnam and Laos reviewed the implementation of cooperation agreements in the fields of energy, mineral resources, and industry, in order to make timely adjustments to those agreements. 

Concluding the talks, the two ministers signed an agreement on developing power projects in Laos and trading electricity until 2030. They also witnessed the signing of four other agreements.
