Addressing the launch ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung said that the proactive involvement of the entire political system together with the people has minimized the damage caused by natural disasters.

“Priority will be given to improving the institution, state management, and infrastructure. The dyke systems, reservoirs, and storm shelters will also be reinforced,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Dung called for support from international organizations and businesses in the fight against natural disasters. Vietnam is one of the countries hardest hit by disasters which leave 300 locals dead and missing each year, costing the country an average of 1% to1.5% of its GDP.
