Mr. Ngoc said Vietnam’s participation in the summit which involved leaders of the largest advanced economies in the world and major international organizations demonstrated the country’s growing status in the globe.

Prime Minister Phuc’s initiatives on climate change response, rising sea level, plastic waste pollution in the ocean, and peace and stability at seas were welcomed by delegates, leaving a significant mark on the summit, Mr. Ngoc noted.

On the sidelines of the summit, Prime Minister Phuc held 14 meetings with leaders of countries and international organizations to boost cooperation and drum up support for Vietnam’s bid for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure.

Mr. Phuc’s visit to Canada which took place when the 2 countries are celebrating 45 years of diplomatic ties creates momentum for the comprehensive partnership. He held talks with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and met other Canadian officials and leading Canadian businesses.
