He urged for optimal conditions to make Bach Mai hospital a leading center for health care, training and research on par with advanced countries.

“It’s crucial to enhance the sharing of information and experience in medical treatment and training with international hospitals and health organizations. As President Ho Chi Minh said ‘Physicians must be like gentle mothers’, every health worker should do their utmost to serve patients. Free health check-ups and treatment for disadvantaged people and policy beneficiaries need to continue,” Mr Quang suggested.

President Quang presented a Labor Order, second class, to Bach Mai hospital, which is one of the largest health facilities in Vietnam.

The same day, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong visited the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Hanoi, and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam presented gifts to staff and patients at district health centers in the central province of Quang Tri. Head of the Party Central Committee’s Education and Communication Commission Vo Van Thuong meanwhile visited and congratulated the National Hospital of Traditional Medicine on Physicians’ Day.
