(VOVworld) – Vietnam has adequate legal and historical evidence proving its sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos, said deputy spokesperson for Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang. She made the remarks in response to reporters’ questions over Vietnam’s reaction to Chinese leaders’ recent statements on Truong Sa and Hoang Sa in interviews with US media agencies. She added that foreign countries’ reclamation activities on islands and shoals in Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos without Vietnam’s permission are illegal and made no sense. Ms. Hang said Vietnam strongly opposes such actions and asked related parties to strictly abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea.
