Vietnam posts record trade surplus in H1

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus of nearly 3.4 billion USD in the first  half of this year, a 5-year record high. 

According to the General Department of Customs, the country’s export turnover hit 114 billion USD in the reviewed period. Key export items included phones and their component; computers, electronics and components; textiles and garments; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts; and footwear.

The Industry and Trade Ministry said that the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement which is expected to take effect next year, have already become catalysts for foreign direct investment that could help Vietnam further boost its production capacity.
