Vietnam ranks 12th at Asian Para Games 2018

(VOVWORLD) -The 2018 Asian Para Games closed at the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday night, after more than a week of competition.

The closing ceremony was a tribute to all the athletes with their great efforts as well as to create an atmosphere of solidarity and reunion for everyone. At the event, the organizing board honored the athletes for their outstanding achievements, including Vietnamese swimmer Vo Thanh Tung.

The host country handed down the flag to China, which will host the 19th Asian Para Games.

After six days of competition, Vietnamese disabled athletes won a total of 40 medals – eight golds, eight silvers and 24 bronzes, 4 more golds higher than the set target– ranking 12th in the medal table. China topped the overall rankings with 172 golds.

The Asian Para Games, which follows the Asian Games every four years, attracted athletes from 44 countries and territories in Asia this year.
