At a meeting with Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz in Hanoi on Tuesday, Prime Minister Phuc praised the Cuban government for facilitating Vietnamese enterprises to do business in Cuba. He said Vietnam is ready to share with Cuba its lessons in socio-economic development and urged relevant agencies of both countries to promote cooperation and realize signed agreements and solutions put forth at the 35th meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-governmental committee. Minister Diaz said the Caribbean island wants to attract more investment from Vietnam and hopes that the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development will open an office in Cuba to facilitate trade activities.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung received the Cuban Minister. The two sides applauded activities of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Governmental Committee and agreed to increase bilateral trade to 500 million USD in the next five years.
