(VOVworld) - Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh told the press on Thursday that Vietnam has sufficient legal and historical grounds to confirm its national sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos.
In response to question regarding China’s Hainan news report that China had completed a runway of 2,000 meters long in Phu Lam island in the Hoang Sa archipelago of Vietnam, spokesman Binh said this act seriously violated Vietnam’s sovereignty and bilateral agreement on settlement of sea disputes signed in October 2011, contradicting both countries’ leaders view, the DOC signed between China and the ASEAN while complicating the situation in the East Sea.
Vietnam vehemently opposes China’s act, demanding its respect to Vietnam’s sovereignty, not relapsing into similar activities and contribute practically to bilateral ties as well as peace and stability in the East Sea.
