Vietnam reinforces tobacco control effort

(VOVWORLD) - Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien urged full enforcement of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco at a meeting in Hanoi on Sunday in response to World No Tobacco Day (May 31) and National No Tobacco Week.

She urged everyone not to use tobacco and authorities to strictly punish those violating regulations on tobacco use.

Dr Lokky Wai, the World Health Organization Representative to Vietnam, called on the Vietnamese government and its partners to impose higher taxes to reduce the use of tobacco and create a green environment and sustainable development for Vietnam.
