Vietnam renews image as responsible member of ASEAN Community

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s attendance at the World Economic Forum on ASEAN was a success.

Quy told the media that through the meetings, Vietnam affirmed its resolve to reform itself comprehensively, restructure the economy, shift the growth model from now until 2020, improve investment environment, and encourage start-ups and innovation. The Deputy Foreign Minister added Vietnam showed the world its openness and determination to integrate into the world despite challenges of globalization and economic connectivity.

Quy said a series of contacts and talks of the Prime Minister directly connected regional and global leading business people with Vietnamese business community. The Prime Minister's attendance at the World Economic Forum on ASEAN demonstrated that Vietnam is a proactive and responsible member of the ASEAN Community, according the Deputy Foreign Minister. He noted that the Prime Minister’s return to Cambodia just 2 weeks after his official visit to this neighboring country showed Vietnam’s respect for the forum’s activities and for Cambodia who hosted the forum for first time. Vietnam will host the next World Economic Forum on ASEAN in 2018.
