(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry held its regular press briefing on Thursday. Spokesman Le Hai Binh answered reporters’ question about Vietnam’s reaction to Chinese Taipei organizing a number of visits by senior officials to Ba Binh island in Vietnam’s archipelago and its issuance of stamps printed with images of Ba Binh island and other islands in the East Sea.

He said: “Chinese Taipei has disregarded Vietnam’s concerns and rejection to continue its illegal acts, including the arragement of visits by senior officials to Ba Binh island in the Truong Sa archipelago and the stamp issuance in an attempt to claim sovereignty in the East Sea, which seriously violate Vietnam’s sovereignty, further complicate the situation, and are detrimental to the maintenance of peace and stability in the region. Such acts by Chinese Taipei won’t change the truth that Vietnam has sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagoes. Vietnam resolutely opposes and asks Chinese Taipei to stop and not to repeat similar activities as well as to join Vietnam and other parties concerned in contributing to the maintenance of peace and stability in the East Sea.”
