(VOVworld) – Many cities and provinces have joined in the world's Earth Hour 2013 by stopping electrical consumption for one hour, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. This represents a strong commitment to the global effort to combat climate change. Student Nguyen Thi Thuy from Hanoi’s University of Electricity: “This is my 2nd time participating in the event. I am very excited and wonder if all other people in the world do respond to the campaign. I hope this will contribute to the fight against climate change and there will be more days like this in the year.

500 Youth Union members in the southern city of Can Tho held a parade in the city center displaying costumes made from recycled products and introduce energy saving devices. Vietnam’s response to the Earth Hour campaign is expected to save up 700,000 kilowatts hour or more than 1 billion dong.
