Vietnam – responsible member of the UN: PM

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is a responsible member and contributes significantly to UN activities in all fields, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told a press conference on Tuesday.

Mr. Phuc is leading the Vietnamese delegation to the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York, which takes place from September 25 to October 1.

PM Phuc said Vietnam has been a pioneer in promoting peace, improvement, cooperation, and development in the world since it joined the UN in 1977. He said Vietnam is active in implementing international treaties and building a global multilateral system that is fair, transparent, and effective.

He said Vietnam actively participates in important multilateral organizations and forums in the region and the world: the Francophone community, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), ASEAN, APEC, WTO, and ASEM.

PM Phuc and the 193 UN members will discuss effective ways to solve global challenges to security and development. Vietnam aims to promote the UN’s initiatives, plans, and actions at the national and regional level.
