Vietnam, Russia strengthen bilateral cooperation

(VOVworld) - Vietnam and Russia convened their eighth annual strategic dialogue in Saint Petersburg on Monday, discussing bilateral ties and regional and global issues of shared concern.

Both sides agreed on increasing mutual support at global forums, especially those in the Asia-Pacific, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son.

Ambassador Son said that “both sides agree on close coordination for the third ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit next year where ASEAN and Russia will issue new joint declarations orienting the further development of bilateral ties. Bilaterally, Vietnam and Russia will try to increase cooperation in economics, trade, and other areas of mutual benefit. Russia has put forward initiatives connecting the Eurasian Economic Community with Vietnam and other ASEAN members.”

The dialogue, co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son and Russian Deputy FM Igor Morgulov, coincided with the 65th anniversary between Vietnam and Russia of diplomatic ties.
