Professor Nguyen The Mich, an expert in wind power, says Vietnam has great potential to develop wind power: "Vietnam can produce 24 to 80 kilowatts of wind power at an altitude of 80 meters. With prompt policies, Vietnam could address the power shortage within 2 years. Vietnam’s central coastal region is favorable to develop renewable energy to serve the demands in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.”

7 wind power projects have been put into operation in Vietnam with a combined capacity of 190 MW.
