It is running the BOA project, sponsored by the US Department of Energy, which ensures the security of high activity radioactive sources in Vietnam, with security systems being already installed in 22 facilities of high activity areas. VARANS has cooperated with the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) to monitor mobile radiation used in non-destructive tests to ensure the safety and security of this special source of radiation.  The agency is working with the General Department of Vietnam Customs to place a radiation control machine at the arrival gate at Noi Bai International Airport. The agency is also coordinating with the International Atomic Energy Agency, Japan, South Korea, the US, and Australia to open conferences and training courses on radiation and nuclear security.
