At a regular press conference on Friday, Nguyen Thi Phuong Dung, head of the Directorate of Fisheries’ Department for Science, Technology and International Cooperation, said that provisions on the ban of IUU have been supplemented to legal documents, while communications campaigns and Vietnam’s cooperation with coast countries are strengthened. Vietnam has had dialogues with the EU and keeps them updated of what Vietnam has done to improve fisheries management towards responsible fisheries.  Vietnam was served with a yellow card warning by the EU in October for failing to progress in fighting IUU fishing and it has been offered the opportunity to take measures to rectify the situation within six months.
