Vietnam, Thailand hold sixth political consultation

(VOVworld)- The Vietnamese and Thai Foreign Ministries convened their sixth political consultation in Bangkok on Wednesday.

The two delegations, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy and Permanent Secretary of the Thai Foreign Ministry Busaya Mathelin, agreed on a number of measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in security, defence, trade, investment, transportation, labor, culture, tourism, education, and science-technology.

They agreed to resolve problems in a friendly spirit and implement an agreement on sending Vietnamese workers to Thailand in 2017.

The two will hasten accelerate the opening of a coach route linking Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam and a coastal route traversing Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

They agreed to make a joint effort to strengthen the solidarity of ASEAN and ensure the bloc’s central role in security and strategic issues in the region. The officials also committed to promoting peace, security, and stability in the East Sea.

Meeting with Deputy Minister Quy, Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said he hopes that the two countries will bolster collaboration, that ASEAN will have a single voice on important international issues, and that the East Sea will be an area of peace, stability, and sustainable development.
