Vietnam, Thailand to step up cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Thailand should continue implementing cooperation mechanisms, especially joint cabinet meetings, the Vietnam-Thailand Joint Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, and political consultations between the two foreign ministries, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Monday.

At a reception for Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Tanee Sangrat in Hanoi, Mr. Minh expressed his support for a number of projects and events that will be hosted by the Thai Embassy, including a project to build a hospital for poor people in central Nghe An province, and the Thailand Festival in Vietnam.

Ambassador Sangrat said Thailand is now the 8th largest foreign investor in Vietnam and its investment in Vietnam is expected to grow with more projects by SCG, Thaibev, and Amata.
