Vietnam to do the utmost for 6.5% economic growth in 2016

Mr. Phuc said over the past nine months, the national macro-economy has kept stable with low inflation and rallied growth rate.

He said September’s indirect investment capital increased, mainly contributed by indirect investment funds like Vinacapital and Indochina. Foreign direct investment and remittance were also on the rise.

Despite positive signals, Prime Minister Phuc said the economic growth only fetched 5.92%, lower than last year’s performance.

In order to attain the growth rate set for the whole year, the growth of the last quarter should be about 7.3%, Mr. Phuc said.

“The entire apparatus should create the most favorable conditions and lift hurdles for production and trading of people and enterprises. We should outline specific solutions to obtain the target of 6.5%. The Asia Development Bank has reported that Vietnam will likely achieve a 6-percent-growth this year due to objective factors including mass fish death in the central region, prolonged drought, floods and the decline in mineral exploitation. Vietnam should resolutely overcome the threshold forecast by the ADB,” said PM Phuc.
