At a meeting with Ms. Ibrahim in Addis Ababa on Friday as part of his State visit to Ethiopia, President Quang called on the Ethiopian Senate to support and encourage the government’s open-door policy, and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to seek cooperation and investment opportunities in Ethiopia in agriculture, trade, telecommunications, aviation, and building small and medium-sized hydro power plants. He called on both sides to consider a tripartite agricultural cooperation model or a public-private partnership model involving businesses. President Quang said Vietnam is ready to create a favorable environment for Ethiopian businesses to invest in Vietnam.

Senate Speaker Ibrahim said she hopes Vietnam will share its experience in economic development, especially in agriculture and aquaculture. She said Ethiopia with its position as capital of Africa and a gateway to the Horn of Africa is willing to connect Vietnamese businesses to invest in Africa. She asked for the reopening of the Vietnamese Embassy in Addis Ababa to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and between Vietnam and Africa.

Both leaders agreed to increase bilateral coordination between the two countries’ parliaments to boost cooperation in economics, trade, and investment and close coordination at multilateral forums.

President Quang conveyed an invitation to visit Vietnam from National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to Speaker Ibrahim, who accepted the invitation.
