(VOVworld) – The Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang and the Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) James Comey have discussed measures to intensify cooperation between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies in prevention of crimes.

On Monday’s talk as part of General Quang’s working visit to the US, Comey said the two leaders had agreed to enhance collaboration between the Vietnamese police force and the FBI through existing mechanisms while speeding up negotiations towards signing cooperation documents to establish a legal framework on crime prevention, including a convict extradition and transfer agreement.

They called for an increase in the sharing of information and experience in investigating crimes, particularly organised crime with an emphasis on drug smuggling and money laundering.

Minister Quang and Director Comey also witnessed the signing of a letter of agreement on the FBI’s transfer of DNA testing software to the Vietnamese Police.

Minister Quang also presented a medal to Ms. Sharon Kuo, a former FBI representative in Cambodia and Vietnam for her contribution to crime combating and prevention.
