According to a government report, the agreement would enhance cooperation between the two countries in using space for peaceful purposes in areas of mutual concern and based on the principles of mutual benefit and equality, and in line with current regulations and international treaties to which both are signatories.

The agreement would create a legal foundation for cooperative projects in earth science, space science, observation and monitoring of the earth, and space exploration.

National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong emphasized that the framework agreement covers exploration and use of space for peaceful purposes only.

The National Assembly Standing Committee asked the government to sign the framework agreement pursuant to International Treaties Law after studying and proposing adjustments to all related documents to ensure consistency and harmony with Vietnam’s rights and interests.
