Vietnam, US strengthen defense ties

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership has formed  the basis to elevate bilateral defense ties to a new height in a more practical and effective manner, said General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Giang made the statement while meeting General Terrence J. O’Shaughnessy, commander of the US Pacific Air Forces in Hanoi on Thursday. He said the air forces of both sides should enhance exchanges of delegations at all levels and information exchanges to share search and rescue experience.

General O’Shaughnessy briefed General Giang on his working session with the Vietnamese Air Defense and Air Force. He said the two sides discussed measures to promote cooperation in humanitarian support, search and rescue work, military medicine, and pilot training.
