The Vietnam Blind Association has received 100 sets of documents in Braille for a illiteracy eradication program and 1000 sets of tablets and pens in Braille. The gifts, presented yesterday by the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI), will be useful to blind students starting a new school year. The ICEVI has made contributions to Vietnam’s educational program for the blind over the years. In 2007, the council and Japan’s NIPON Foundation donated 2 multimedia computer rooms to the Vietnam Blind Association and Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Science and Humanities to help poor visually-impaired students. Last year ICEVI launched a scholarship program for tertiary and post-graduate blind students.
