Vietnamese children enjoy Mid-Autumn festival celebrations around the world

(VOVworld) - Vietnamese children enjoyed Mid-Autumn festival celebrations worldwide this week. A special Mid-Autumn program called “Moon festival – Brighten Vietnamese children’s dreams” took place on Sunday in Can Tho City. Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan spoke at the program, highlighting the importance of child care and protection: "It’s our responsibility to ensure that children’s rights are respected, especially their right to play and enjoy beautiful festivals like the Mid-Autumn festival. I call on Party Committees and authorities at all levels, and the entire society to spare no effort for the development of our future generations."

Thousands of children visited historical relics and took part in folk games and painting and story-telling contests. They received gifts from businesses and other donors. Lieu Hoang Phu of Soc Trang province could not hide his happiness: "I have never participated in a more exciting festival. I was very happy to play so many interesting games at the festival."

In Ho Chi Minh City, more than 1,500 disadvantaged children took part in a special Sunday program called “Moon festival”.

In Ninh Binh and Soc Trang province, local authorities presented gifts to poor children and children of policy beneficiary families.

Vietnamese children living overseas also enjoyed happy Mid-Autumn festival celebrations. The Vietnamese Embassy in India organized a picnic for children of staff and Vietnamese agencies in India where the children enjoyed folk games, and traditional autumn cakes from Vietnam.

Vietnamese children in the UK enjoyed a mid-autumn feast, received the gifts, and learned some festival tales.

The Vietnamese delegation to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva held a special mid-autumn program for the Vietnamese children there.
