Vietnamese culture highlighted at Chingay Parade Singapore 2015

(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s gong performance and traditional Ao Dai (long dress) are highlights of Chingay Parade Singapore 2015, which opened Friday. According to Nguyen Truong Giang, who led Vietnamese artists at the street parade, the Vietnamese delegation will promote the UNESCO-recognized gongs of Vietnam’s central highlands region. He noted that performances by Vietnamese artists at festivals around the world will help foreign friends better understand Vietnam’s culture.

Chingay, the largest annual street festival of the Chinese community in Singapore, has celebrated the Lunar New Year since 1973.

This year’s event is particularly important because it is part of the activities celebrating Singapore’s 50th National Day.

Its highlight is the participation of 1,000 foreign artists from 14 countries and territories.
