Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Phan Van Giang made the statement at a meeting with his Cuban counterpart Alvaro Lopez Miera while leading a defense delegation to Cuba late last week.

Mr. Giang, who is also Deputy Defence Minister, said that Vietnamese people remember President Fidel Castro saying “For Vietnam, we are ready to shed our blood,” and the great support of Cuba for the Vietnamese people during the most difficult days of Vietnam’s liberation war and today’s national development.

Cuban General Miera called the Vietnamese delegation’s visit evidence of the loyal friendship between the two armies, fostering defense cooperation between the two countries.
