(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam's football squad lost to the Republic of Korea 1-3 in a semifinal match at the Asian Games (ASIAD) on Wednesday.

The team will vie next for a bronze medal on Saturday. Vietnamese football fans couldn’t be prouder of their team. Mr. Pham Van Hien of Ha Long City in Quang Ninh province, said: "We felt sorry for the team but we still take pride in them. We want to thank the coach Park Hang Seo".

Mr. Nguyen Van Tao, father of Nguyen Van Toan, who scored the goal that got Vietnam into the semifinal, said: "Congratulations to the team! You’re winners in our hearts!”

Mr. Tran Thanh Hung of Hanoi said making it to the semifinals was a great success for Vietnamese football. He said: “Though the result fell short of our hopes, we saw the team make a great effort. The fans will definitely cheer for them!”
