Vietnamese in Hong Kong and Macau celebrate Tet

Hundreds of overseas Vietnamese and staff of Vietnamese representative offices in Hong Kong and Macau gathered to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet) on Friday.  The Vietnamese Consul General to the two Chinese special administrative regions, Nguyen Thi Nha, said most overseas Vietnamese people are aware of preserving their traditions and culture as well as looking toward the homeland and contributing to its development. Nha said she hopes they will continue to promoteunity, assist each other and integrate well into local society, while maintaining their national cultural identity. On the occasion, the Consulate General, on behalf of the High Command of Vietnam People’s Navy, presented Tran Thi Ngoc Linh with an insignia for her contributions to protecting Vietnam’s national sovereignty over its islands and seas. The same day, the Vietnamese People’s Association in Krastnoda city of Russia organized an art program to celebrate the traditional lunar new year festival
