(VOVWORLD) - President Tran Dai Quang has reiterated Vietnam’s wish to strengthen bilateral ties with traditional friends including Chile.

At a meeting with outgoing Chilean Ambassador to Vietnam, Claudio Andres De Negri Quintana, in Hanoi on Thursday, Mr. Quang said the signing of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement on Thursday, to which Vietnam and Chile are members, will create new opportunities to boost bilateral cooperation. He asked the Ambassador to continue contributing to Vietnam-Chile ties. Ambassador Quintana said Chile will host the APEC Year 2019 and hopes to learn experience from Vietnam.

The same day, the Chilean Ambassador paid farewell to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. Mr. Phuc said the CPTPP will create more opportunities for Vietnam and Chile to boost cooperation in economics, trade, investment, culture, education, and others. Ambassador Quintana highlighted the great potential for bilateral cooperation saying he hoped that bilateral trade will increase sharply in the near future.
