(VOVworld) – The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and its counterpart agency from Portugal have pledged further friendship and cooperation.

At a meeting in Hanoi on Monday between chairman of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Dang Ngoc Tung and his Portuguese counterpart Armenio Carlos, both sides exchanged information about their trade unions’ activities in recent years.

Tung said Vietnam has approximately 8.5 million members and 120,000 local union branches and is actively recruiting new members, especially in the non-state economic sector.

Tung said the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour will continue to protect the legitimate rights and benefits of Vietnamese workers.

He expressed his belief that friendship and cooperation will be strengthened through the exchange of information and mutual support at international forums.
