Vietnamese shooter shines at 2016 Rio Olympics

(VOVworld) – Marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh won the second medal for Vietnam Wednesday at the ongoing Rio Olympics in Brazil, finishing second in the men’s 50-meter pistol shooting event.

In total, Vinh scored 191.3 points. Jin Jong-oh, from the Republic of Korea, scored 193.7 points to win gold. With the achievement, Vinh made history as the first Vietnamese athlete to win both a gold and a silver medal at the Olympic Games. Vinh said: "This year’s tournament means a lot to me. The final round was unforgettable. I want to share this joy with my family and all Vietnamese citizens. I hope the Vietnamese athletes will do better and win more medals."

On Wednesday, the Vietnam Olympic team ranked 3rd in shooting and 15th overall.
