Vietnam’s 9-month GDP highest since 2011

(VOVWORLD) -The socio-economic development indexes for Vietnam in the past nine months were encouraging, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a Government meeting for September on Monday.

Prime Minister Phuc said Vietnam’s GDP growth in the reviewed period was 6.98%, the highest 9-month increase since 2011. Looking back on the outstanding achievements of the past month, the Prime Minister highlighted the success of the World Economic Forum on ASEAN in Hanoi. Vietnam’s biggest foreign affairs event of 2018 was highly praised by the international community who called it the most successful WEF-ASEAN conference in 27 years. Mr Phuc also mentioned the official launch of the Committee for Management of State Capital at the end of September, saying the agency will make state-owned enterprises more effective, open, and transparent. The Prime Minister noted US-China trade tensions and asked ministers and industry leaders to suggest solutions.
