Vietnam’s aviation transport market strives to be among top 4 in ASEAN

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung signed a decision to approve readjustments to the development plan for aviation transport until 2020 with a vision to 2030.

Vietnam’s aviation transport market aims to be among the top 4 ASEAN countries by 2030 in terms of transport volume with three regional air passenger and freight transport centers.

The total passenger transport market will increase by an average of 16% a year from 2015 to 2020 and 8% a year during the 2020-2030 period. Meanwhile, the total freight transport market will increase by an average of 18% annually from 2015 to 2020 and 12% from 2020 to 2030. The transport capacity of Vietnamese airlines by 2020 will increase to around 131 million passengers and 2.2 million tons of cargo.

By 2020 there will be 23 airports, including 13 domestic and 10 international airports. The 4 current international airports are Noi Bai, Da Nang, Tan Son Nhat, and Cam Ranh.
