Vietnam's FDI surges to over 10 billion USD in Jan-May

(VOVworld) – Vietnam has attracted more than 10 billion USD of foreign direct investment in the first five months this year, up 136% from a year ago.

A statement from the Ministry of Planning and Investment said Vietnam had licensed 907 new foreign projects worth more than 7.5 billion USD. Almost 2.6 billion USD was registered for existing projects.

The Republic of Korea remained the top investor among 60 countries and territories by committing 3.4 billion USD. Luxembourg came in second followed by Singapore.

Manufacturing and processing continued to be the top sectors, accounting for 65% of the registered funds.

Hanoi was the biggest investor with 140 new projects worth 1.96 billion USD. Hai Phong ranked second and Dong Nai third.
