(VOVWORLD) - The Phong Dien solar power plant, with a capacity of 35 MW, was put into operation in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on Friday.

Invested by the Gia Lai Electricity JSC, the factory covers 45ha in Dien Loc commune, Phong Dien district, and was built at a total cost of nearly 43 million USD. It will produce about 60 million kWh of electricity each year and is expected to contribute to local socio-economic development.
Tan Xuan Hien, Chairman of the Executive Board of Gia Lai Electric Company, said: “In Thua Thien – Hue, we have invested in 3 power plants – Thuong Lo hydropower plant, Phong Dien solar power plant, and A Lin hydropower plant. We’ll invest in expanding solar power and other kinds of clean energy.”
The Phong Dien solar power plant is set to expand its capacity by additional 29.5 MW next year
