Speaking at the committee’s national online meeting on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said this will be one of the biggest national censuses and aim to collect basic information about population and housing to serve the analysis of population and housing development nationwide. It will help assess the implementation of socio-economic development plans for 2011-2020 and provide an important foundation to craft development strategies until 2030. Mr. Hue said: “This census will be different from 10 years ago because of Vietnam’s higher socio-economic development and IT levels. For the first time, Vietnam will capitalize on IT use from collecting information, analyzing and storing data, to making reports. Although IT is very useful, it poses higher risks. So we can’t be complacent.”
