Vietnam’s National Day marked in US

(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnamese Embassy in the United States held a ceremony on September 14 to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Pham Quang Vinh emphasized the importance of National Day making the the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Ambassador Vinh appreciated the development of Vietnam – US relations over the past years, particularly the establishment of a comprehensive partnership in 2013. The event was attended by Susan Thornton, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs and Diane Farrell, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Diane Farrell affirmed that the US gives importance to intensifying its relations with Vietnam and ASEAN on the basis of major interests in economy-trade, security, global issues.
