Vietnam’s role highlighted at Francophone conference

(VOVworld) - Scholars and experts on the French language and culture affirmed Vietnam’s increasingly important role in the French-speaking community and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) at a conference in Montpellier, France, as part of Francophone Week from Monday to Friday.

At the event, themed “French in Vietnam: History, literature, and memories”, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Ngoc Son reviewed important milestones in relations between Vietnam and the IOF, including President Tran Dai Quang’s attendance at the Francophone Summit in Madagascar in November, and French President Francois Hollande’s visit to Vietnam. Mr. Son lauded the achievements of the OIF in various fields, especially coping with crises, reinforcing peace, respecting international law, and promoting cultural diversity, education, and environmental protection.
