Vietnam's top legislator begins official visit to RoK

(VOVWORLD) - Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan arrived in Busan city on Tuesday for a four-day official visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) at the invitation of Speaker of the RoK National Assembly Moon Hee-sang.

The two sides will discuss ways to boost bilateral cooperation and deepen the Vietnam-RoK strategic partnership.

The Vietnamese delegation will brief their host on Vietnam’s policies and investment environment which are favorable for the two countries’ enterprises. Ms. Ngan is scheduled to meet Vietnamese people living and working in the country.

Vietnam and the RoK established diplomatic ties on December 22, 1992. They established a comprehensive partnership in August 2001, and upgraded the ties to strategic cooperative partnership in October 2009.

The RoK is the biggest foreign investor, the second largest supplier of official development assistance (ODA) after Japan and the third largest trade partner of Vietnam, behind China and the European Union. The two countries are working to raise two-way trade turnover to 100 billion USD by 2020.
