(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang has affirmed that Vietnam will continue to treasure and ceaselessly develop its traditional relations with Laos.

President Sang made the statement at separate meetings with Lao Party, Government, and National Assembly leaders as well as writing it in the autograph book at the memorial complex dedicated to late President, Prince Souphanuvong during his visit to Lao on Tuesday.

Receiving Mr. Sang, former President of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Khamtay Siphandon asked leaders of both countries to hold regular meetings to update each other and exchange views on issues of mutual concern. Khamtay Siphandon said commitments between the two nations’ leaders reflect consistent and loyal ties.

Former NA Chairman Saman Vinhaket said that at major celebrations Lao people always remember the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people to help them liberate and construct their nation. Vinhaket, who is also Head of the Lao Steering Commission on Ideology, Theory, and Culture, noted that Lao people treasure and tell the younger generation about this traditional friendship.

President Sang visited the memorial complex dedicated to late President Prince Souphanuvong where he wrote in the autograph book that the Vietnamese Party and State always keep in mind the support of President Souphanuvong for Vietnam’s struggle for national independence and construction.
