(VOVworld)- The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations celebrated its 65^th anniversary in Hanoi on Monday.

In his address, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh highlighted the organization’s development and its contribution to national construction and defense over the past 65 years. He urged the organization’s staff to effectively carry out Vietnam’s foreign policy of national independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development. He said: “It’s necessary to implement a comprehensive foreign policy, utilizing  the combined strength of Vietnam’s diplomacy and promote President Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts and diplomatic tactics. We need to help people around the world better understand Vietnam, its land, people and culture as well as its policies, and achievements. We also need to contribute to fighting against any sabotage attempts of hostile forces, and maintain a peaceful environment to develop the country”.
