War Invalids and Martyrs Day observed in localities

(VOVWORLD) - On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam visited and presented gifts to Vietnam Heroic Mother Ta Thi Ca, 96, and Duong Thi The, 92, and a number of war veterans in Hung Yen province.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged the province to do more to care for and improve the lives of revolutionary contributors.

The Youth Union held a gratitude program on Wednesday in Quang Tri province. During the program, free medical exams, medicine, and savings books were given to former youth volunteers. Scholarships were awarded to the children of policy beneficiaries.

Some 2,000 young people laid wreaths, burned incense, and lit candles at Ha Noi’s Martyrs’ Cemetery. Pham Thi Huyen, a student at the University of Trade, took part in the event: “The program is deeply meaningful, making young people aware of the great contribution made by war invalids and martyrs to the nation. Young people should follow the revolutionary tradition and continue to develop the nation”.

Da Nang’s Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs reviewed 20 years of implementing the ordinance for revolutionary contributors and a program this year to repair the houses of policy beneficiaries. Da Nang’s People’s Committee gave certificates of merit to 35 collectives and 27 individuals who helped build houses for persons who rendered great service to the nation.

On this occasion, Secretary of Vinh Phuc province’s Party Committee Hoang Thi Thuy Lan called on the society and businesses to respond to the paying debt of gratitude movements.
